You might know Austin’s award-winning Baldridge Architects for its work on low-key but eye-catching spaces such as Kimber Modern Soco, Milk + Honey Spa, or the recently opened Arrive East Austin hotel. The firm’s distinctive, mostly modern designs make for standout structures around town (and not just limited to the hospitality industry—it also restored and renovated St. Edward’s University’s Holy Cross Hall and designed, gratis, an open-air outdoor classroom for Casis Elementary’s organic garden program).
The firm designs equally bold residences, as well, of which this South Austin contemporary is but one example. Built in 2009, the two-story stucco home has a layout that maximizes flexibility as well as with indoor-outdoor interaction. Measuring 2,343 square feet, it has three bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms and includes a detached studio with its own bathroom, storage, and entrance—currently used for music and recording, it’s conveniently located across a leafy, inviting deck between it and the main house.
The main house features high ceilings, built-ins, hard-tile and wood floors, floor-to-ceiling window walls, and an upstairs deck. Wende Parks with Moreland Properties holds the listing.
