A color-happy, fresh-looking duplex unit with a fenced backyard in Highland is renting for $1,650 per month—although owners add in utilities, meaning it will be $1,850 for one person and $1,900 for two, with electricity, water, wastewater, gas, trash, and recycling included. You’ll have to do your own ciphering to figure out if that’s what you’re budgeting for bills. The updated home has a kitchen with granite counters, updated cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances. Pets are allowed.

Clarksville

A studio in the 5th Street Commons condominium complex in Clarksville will run you $1,692 right now. In addition to being in a happening part of town, the 591-square-foot unit comes with community amenities such as pool, a fitness center, and an “e-lounge,” whatever that is. Apartments have wood flooring, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, tile backsplashes, and custom touches including built-in bookcases. Pets are allowed.

Here we have your basic standalone one-story house with wood floors, located in Crestview and renting for $1,625 per month. The two-bedroom, one-bathroom home measures 752 square feet and has washer/dryer connections and a fenced backyard and deck. Pets are okay.

East Riverside-Oltorf

A two-story duplex unit renting for $1,650 per month will put you conveniently close to South Austin amenities as well as the river and other attractions of its East Riverside-Oltorf neighborhood. The two-bedroom, 1,080-square-foot home has one and a half bathrooms, granite counters, a fireplace, and a one-car garage.

If you think you might like to live-in a 1960s throwback-ish townhouse in a quiet South Austin community, please see this two bedroom, two-bathroom unit, renting for $1,600 per month. It has a built-in entertainment center, bookshelves, and storage, as well as a washer/dryer, a covered porch, a private patio, and a one-car garage. The 986 square home is in the East Congress neighborhood, south of Highway 71 between South Congress Avenue and IH-35. Pets are okay.
