New Zilker contemporary asks $1.7M

A well-designed modern home in South Austin reads both spare and luxurious

2003 Meldridge Place
Via Moreland Properties

While its exterior flirts with the cold end of contemporary, this new home in South Austin’s Zilker neighborhood reads more down to earth, perhaps because its designers chose smooth stucco over, say, reinforced concrete, to alternate with metal and glass on its exterior walls. Open, light interiors in the 3,042-square-foot, two-story home are a similar mix of spare and inviting—although a luxurious brand of both, to be sure.

The home was designed by local firm Ravel Architecture and was an AIA Austin award finalist in 2019 (the firm’s work was also featured in that year’s AIA homes tour). It has four bedrooms and four bathrooms, concrete and wood floors, and a swimming pool. The listing for 2003 Meldridge Place, asking $1,695,000, is held by Sean Kubicek at Moreland Properties.
