Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent or buy for a set dollar amount in various Austin neighborhoods. Today’s price: $420,000 (or thereabouts). Vote for your favorite below.
Windsor Park
A newly remodeled, one-story house built in 1960 is on the market for $374,900—a bit higher than this week’s ideal price, but such a cutie, and in popular and convenient Windsor Park, so probably worth the difference. It has three bedrooms and one bathroom in 939 square feet and updates that include energy-efficiency features, rewiring, and new kitchen everything. There’s also a carport and a big, fenced yard.
Bouldin Creek
We featured this charming condominium last week (mistakenly putting it in East Riverside and not its proper neighborhood, Bouldin Creek, which no one seemed to notice) and still think it’s a sweet place in a sweet spot. The 793-square-foot unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and comes with a downtown view from its pool deck and a kayak/canoe launch basically in its backyard. It’s asking $359,900, with HOA fees of $230 per month.
Cherrywood
This one-story, single-family home is probably a fixer-upper, but the $360,000 asking price is good for Cherrywood, and it has original wood floors in its kitchen, living/dining, and bedrooms, what looks like vintage tile in the kitchen and bathroom, and a tree-shaded backyard. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom in 1,152 square feet.

If you’re seeking a large, decked-out condo and work at Apple, this two-story number asking $360,000 might be for you. Located in the gated Ashton Woods community in Far North Austin, it has four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms in 2,074 square feet. It has wood floors, granite countertops, and a two-car garage. HOA fees are $300 per month.
East MLK
This contemporary home in East MLK has an interesting layout, with an entrance through the kitchen on the first floor, the main living area on the second floor, and a bedroom and bathroom on each, but it looks like it works. It measures 975 square feet and has lofted ceilings and a balcony upstairs, a private yard, and a one-story carport. It’s asking $369,000. HOA fees are not mentioned in the listing.
