Open houses can be a cheap source of entertainment as well as information—for most who partake, it’s usually a combination of both—but Inspired by the venerable neighborhood home tour, we’re taking a cruise through South Austin homes on the market that are opening up their doors this weekend.
Just to keep things interesting, we’re throwing in another variable: The homes on this map are asking $500,000 or less. To find them, we had to stretch the traditional definition of “South Austin”; while all are south of the river between I-35 and MoPac, places in that price range seemingly exist only south of West Oltorf Drive at the moment. That means housing stock was for the most part built in the 1970s or later, but it also means entrée into the newly hip (we’re told) ‘45 aka Garrison Park.
Which one would you pick? Let us know in the comments.
