The long-delayed and debated NLand Surf Park will will finally open Friday, October 7, The 160-acre wave park features a the lagoon that uses rainwater collected on the property, as well as lodging, food, retail, and a surf school.
After learning last week that the Travis County Commissioners Court has authorized lawyers to sue the operators of the Austin NLand Surf Park park currently under construction, the park’s owners have filed filed a lawsuit against the county.
The NLand wave park headed for Del Valle got waylaid during county permitting recently, bringing to light the fact that Texas doesn't have regulations in place for surf parks. NLand says it's still opening this spring.
A 130-acre Wavegarden surfing park opening this spring in Austin will feature a 13-acre lagoon, lodging, food, retail, and a surf school. Developers say they hope the Del Valle facility, named INland Surf Park, will attract world-class surfers.
